Here are our top 5 reason’s why you should make Egypt your next destination.
1. Gaze at the at the impressive pyramids
Let’s start with the most obvious reason first, right?! One of the ancient wonders of the world, the Pyramids of Giza are without a doubt one of the most popular attractions to see. Built as royal tombs for three different pharaohs, it’s still debated to this day how these pyramids were built over 4500 years ago.
2. Cruise down the Nile
Sit back and relax as you cruise along the Nile in a traditional wooden sailing boat. Take in the stunning sights as you cruise from Luxor to Aswan, wave to locals, take a dip in the river (if you dare), eat and drink with your new friends and enjoy taking in the impressive landmarks of Egypt.
3. Visit the Temples
Egyptian Temples were built for many reasons, from residences for gods to funerary cults for the royalty, the Egyptians sure knew how to splash the cash to turn the temples into masterpieces. From Karnak which is the largest temple ever built and took over 1500 years to complete to the Temples of Philae which was the centre for worship of the goddess of Isis, the temples are not to be missed.
4. Take a swim in the Sea
Visit Dahab, a laid-back beach town which is known as a divers paradise. The reefs surrounding Dahab are renowned for their abundance of sea life, with popular hot spot the Blue Hole. If diving ain’t your thing, why not try getting your adrenaline pumping with some water sports or just chill and relax by the sea.
5. Fill your plate with Egyptian Food
For a lot of people, food plays a major role in experiencing a new country, and Egypt is no exception. Fill your plate with traditional Egyptian food, which is filled with flavour and oh so delicious. Try fava beans and falafel a staple in the Egyptian diet or Kushari a popular street food which is made of rice, macaroni and lentils, topped with tomato sauce, garlic vinegar and fried onions. It’s a carb overload coming right at you (but calories don’t count on holidays anyway, right)!
