Delphi

Centuries after, wisdom and enlightenment still resonate through the otherworldly ruins of Delphi.

visit Delphi

The name may already ring a bell—Delphi is one the top sites when it comes to the legend-filled realm of Ancient Greece. It is most famous for being the seat of the oracle Pythia. But beyond that, it was the center of the world for the ancient Greeks, anchored by a magnificent stone monument. Much of the ruins are excavated and open for visitors today, and the temples for Apollo and Athena are some of the things that are worth seeing.

Today, there is a modern town of Delphi just outside the archeological site. This is where the Castro people that used to live on the site reside. A short visit there will reveal more about the efforts to earn this treasure as a heritage. Did you finish exploring the Tholos of Delphi and the ancient theatre of 5,000 seats? Turn towards the valley and enjoy the amazing views. The footprints of ancient settlers from elite scholars to priests are still visible in every stone and monument.
