1. Brandenburg Gate

Let’s start with the most iconic landmark. Once a symbol of a divided city in the Cold War, the Brandenburg Gate now is a symbol of unity and peace.

2. Reichstag Building

The Reichstag Building is the current home to the German parliament. Not only will you learn about Germany’s fascinating history you can also visit the famous glass dome which has panoramic views of the city.

3. East Side Gallery

Over a kilometre long the East Side Gallery, is the world’s largest open-air mural collection. The longest surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall, it is decorated by artwork’s of surreal images, and political statements.

4. Currywurst

You can’t go to Berlin without tasting currywurst! A pork sausage which is cut into small pieces with curry ketchup and sprinkle of curry spice, and it can be found in streets stalls and restaurants all over the city. They even have a museum dedicated to it so it must be good!

5. Holocaust Memorial

The Memorial to Murdered Jews of Europe is a place of remembrance and warning. An immersive experience, with a maze of concrete structures and uneven sloping floor, it gives you the feeling of disorientation, oppression as you contemplate the harrowing nature of living under Nazi rule.

6. Christmas markets

If you visit Berlin in November and December, you’ll have the chance to visit the famous Christmas markets. Browse handmade trinkets, feast on delicious food and make sure you grab a cup of Gluhwein (mulled wine)!

7. Museum Island

Berlin’s Musueum Island (Museumsinsel) is a complex of five world renown museums and galleries. Listed as UNESCO World Heritage site, it houses treasures from 6000 years of history.

8. Berlin TV Tower

If you want a 360 degree views of the city, you’re in luck! Visit Fernsehturm Berlin which gives the best views from one of the highest vantage points in the city.

9. Checkpoint Charlie

Checkpoint Charlie is a reminder of the former border crossing in the Cold War. Rebuilt based on the original crossing, it’s now a popular tourist attraction. Take a snap or get your passport stamped, just be warned it will cost you 5 euro!

10. Ride a bike through Tiergarten

Grab a bike, or take a stroll through Tiegarten which stretches over 500 acres – slightly bigger than Hyde Park.
