Important Notes
Visa Requirements: Italy, Romania, and Bulgaria are all part of the Schengen Area. Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality, please check the latest entry rules for all three countries and secure any required Schengen visa or travel authorization well before your tour begins.
Travel Insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for this tour and must cover your entire journey across Italy, Romania, and Bulgaria, including internal flights and medical emergencies. Your Tour Leader will ask for your insurance details on Day 1.
Included Costs: Daily breakfasts are included. The internal flight from Rome to Bucharest and all long-distance coach travel between cities and across borders are fully included as specified. Lunches, dinners, entrance fees to optional attractions, city taxes, local transport and personal expenses are not included unless explicitly stated in your day-by-day itinerary.
Itinerary & Pace: This 16-day multi-country itinerary combines guided city sightseeing, long-distance scenic coach drives, a short-haul flight and leisure time to explore. Expect a full schedule with occasional early starts and extensive walking through historic centers, cobbled streets, castle grounds, medieval citadels, and underground sites.
Optional Activities: Enhance your journey with extra experiences such as a Venetian gondola ride, Tuscan wine tasting, guided Dracula’s castle entrance upgrades, traditional Romanian or Bulgarian dinner shows, or subterranean tours. These are available at an additional cost and can be arranged locally with your Tour Leader.
Packing Essentials: Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring historic city centers, stairs, and fortress grounds. Pack versatile layers to adapt to changing temperatures, from the Mediterranean climate of Italy to the cooler mountain air in Transylvania and Balkan regions, along with sun protection and standard European plug adapters (Type C/F).
Solo Travellers: Solo travellers can choose to share accommodation with a fellow traveller of the same gender at no additional cost (subject to availability) or opt for a private room upgrade at booking to enjoy a guaranteed single room throughout the entire 16-day tour.
