Visa and entry requirements vary significantly by nationality, please check the specific entry rules for each country on the itinerary and secure all required visas or travel authorisations before your departure.
Travel Insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for this tour and must cover medical emergencies, flight/transit connections and trip interruptions across all countries visited (Italy, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, and Greece). Your Tour Leader will verify your insurance details on Day 1.
Included Costs: Daily breakfasts are included. The internal flight from Rome to Sofia and long-distance coach transport between cities are fully included as specified. Lunches, dinners, entrance fees to optional sights, city taxes, local transport and personal expenses are not included unless explicitly noted in the day-by-day program.
Itinerary & Pace: Spanning 19 days across Southern Europe, the Adriatic, and the Balkans, this grand itinerary features a fast-paced blend of guided city tours, scenic cross-border drives, a short-haul flight, and free time to explore. Expect full days, early morning departures, and extensive walking over historic cobblestone streets, ancient ruins (like the Acropolis and Delphi), and hillside towns.
Optional Activities: Enhance your journey with curated optional experiences, such as a Venetian gondola ride, a Balkan food and wine tasting, a boat tour in the Bay of Kotor or Lake Ohrid, and guided visits to archaeological sites. These activities incur an additional cost and can be arranged locally with your Tour Leader.
Packing Essentials: Supportive, well-broken-in walking shoes are essential for navigating historic centres, stairs, and uneven terrain across Italy, the Balkans, and Greece. Pack lightweight layers to adapt to varied climates, from the cooler Balkan mountain passes to the sunny Mediterranean coasts, along with sun protection, versatile outerwear, and standard European plug adapters (Type C/F).
Solo Travellers: Solo travellers can choose to share accommodation with a fellow traveller of the same gender at no additional cost (subject to availability) or select a single room upgrade option at booking to enjoy private rooming throughout the entire 19-day journey.
