The Pantheon

The Pantheon is one of the best-preserved monuments of ancient Rome, originally built by Agrippa and rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian around 126 AD. Famous for its massive Corinthian portico and record-breaking unreinforced concrete dome, crowned by a central opening (oculus) that lets in natural light, it was converted into a Catholic church in 609 AD and today houses the tombs of Renaissance master Raphael and Italian kings.
