The Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real de Madrid) is the official residence of the Spanish royal family, used today primarily for state ceremonies. Built in the 18th century on a ridge overlooking the Manzanares River valley, it is the largest functioning royal palace in Western Europe, featuring over 3,400 rooms filled with lavish Baroque and Neoclassical architecture, historical armor, and priceless artworks by Velázquez, Goya, and Caravaggio.
