Itinerary

1
Day 1: Split, Omis
After boarding our “A” category cruiser at 1:00pm from the Split harbour, we enjoy lunch on board before cruising the tranquil waters of the Adriatic Sea. There are plenty of stops for swimming on the way to Omis, a small port located at the mouth of the Cetina River and surrounded by huge gorges. Historically, Omis was home to the fearful pirates whose fast boats were used to attack trade ships. Old monuments and buildings, as well as historic town names, are a constant reminder of the turbulent past. We go rafting here on the Cetina River which is one of the highlight’s of the week.

Day 2: Omis, Makarska
Today we depart for a day of swimming at beautiful bays along the Dalmatian coast. We sail to the island of Makarska, which is a popular resort town on the mainland with the Biokovo mountain range acting as a stunning backdrop. After a brief orientation walk you have the afternoon free to lie on the beach; take part in water sports like parasailing and jet skiing; or just enjoy the many cafes, bars and restaurants that line the 1500 metre-long beach. At night get ready to go ‘Deep’ as we head out to party in a cave!

Day 3: Makarska, Hvar
As the anchor comes up in the morning, we wave goodbye to the shores of Makarska and are bound for Hvar. Hvar is Croatia’s premier island, which is known as the sunniest island in the Adriatic – receiving on average 2,724 hours of sunshine a year. It is also famous for its lavender, sage, rosemary and wine. The island is home to spectacular beaches, nightlife and draws numerous celebrities such as Prince Harry and his antics at one of the famous outdoor clubs. After an orientation walk you can sample some fresh cuisine at any number of restaurants and then get ready to party with the elite as we hit the local bars and clubs!

Day 4: Hvar, Korcula
Today we first sail to Lumbarda beach and spend some hours here to swimming, sunbathing or join some various water-sports and activities. We then continue to Korcula town, the birthplace of Marco Polo. Korcula is graced with indented coves, rolling hills and a walled old town that resembles a miniature Dubrovnik. After an orientation walk you can wander the streets checking out the markets and many hand-made jewellery shops, visit the spot where Marco Polo lived, or grab a cocktail in a bar located at the top of the old city tower for some phenomenal views.

Day 5: Korcula, Mljet
Today we cruise to the island of Mljet, an island covered by forests and dotted with fields, vineyards and small villages. Not only is one third of the island declared a National Park, Time Magazine placed Mljet among the ten most beautiful islands in the world. According to legend, this is where Odysseus got trapped for seven years with his lover Calypso – though locals believe it is the natural beauty of Mljet that charmed him. Here on this enchanting island you have the afternoon to visit the salt lakes, swim, kayak, cycle or scoot around. Of course no sailing trip on a traditional Croatian ship is complete without dressing like a pirate - tonight we have our on-board ‘Pirate Party’ with a special BBQ and traditional Croatian cuisine prepared by the Captain and crew plus games to take us into the night.

Day 6: Mljet, Dubrovnik
This morning we have time for our heads to recover and for an another sunbake or swim in the crystal clear waters. Later that day we head for the ‘pearl of the Adriatic’ – Dubrovnik! Much of the history of Dubrovnik can be characterised by its intact city walls, which runs uninterrupted for 1940 meters, encircling the city. This complex structure is one of the most beautiful and strongest fortified systems in Europe and one of the main attractions in the city. In the evening we indulge in some fresh seafood, before seeing what the Dubrovnik nightlife has in store – party in a 13th Century fortress anyone?

Day 7: Dubrovnik City Tour
This morning we discover Dubrovnik’s sites with our tour leader and local guide. The afternoon is yours free to explore - walk the city walls, wander through the marble streets, soak up some rays on the beach and maybe enjoy an ice cold beer taking in the view of the glistening Adriatic.

Day 8: Dubrovnik, Kotor, Budva, Podgorica
After the breakfast, we  disembark the ship in Dubrovnik.In the afternoon we drive to Kotor, Montenegro with its calming natural beauty and characteristic architecture. Following a walking tour of the old town with our expert local guide, we make our way to the popular touristic hub of the region, Budva. A touristic attraction in its own right, we discover the gorgeous town and all its attractions including Sveti Stefan – a former fishing village with its untouched old town with narrow streets, shops and churches. Late in the afternoon we depart for Podgorica, the capital city of Montenegro where we’ll stay overnight.Kick off the day with a delicious breakfast and put on your swimsuit, it’s time to discover the “Pearl of the Adriatic", Dubrovnik. With its well-preserved majestic walls encircling the whole town and its sea of terra-cotta roof tiles, giving life to the King’s Landing, the whole town is an amazing UNESCO World Heritage Site. We start our guided walking tour of Stari Grad (old town), learn all about the millennial history of this incredible town with influences of the Romans, Byzantine, Ottomans and Venetians. We walk inside the mighty walls, visit the castle overlooking the port, and all the beautiful attractions of Dubrovnik before a drink to cool off. Our next stop is Kotor, Montenegro with its calming natural beauty and characteristic architecture. Following a walking tour of the old town with our expert local guide, we make our way to the popular touristic hub of the region, Budva. A touristic attraction in its own right, we discover the gorgeous town and all its attractions including Sveti Stefan – a former fishing village with its untouched old town with narrow streets, shops and churches. Day 9: Podgorica, Shkodra, Tirana, Ohrid
We hit the roads following breakfast, next stop Albania! On our way, we pass through Shkodra and its beautiful lake on the border, and continue to Tirana. A panoramic city tour of Tirana will embrace Ethem Bey Mosque, one of the best preserved and most beautiful samples of Albanian architecture; as well as the Clock Tower, and the Skanderbeg Square – the town centre, named after the Albanian national hero Skanderbeg. Moving forward, the journey will continue towards Macedonia. As we arrive in Ohrid, we check into the hotel and rest up after a long day.

Day 10: Ohrid-Bitola-Tetovo-Skopje
After breakfast, we depart for Bitola. The group will explore the Turkish market, Bedestenot, Yeni Mosque, the Clock Tower and the wide alley and the military academy. Bitola stands at a critical junction connecting the Adriatic with the Aegean Sea and Central Europe, and has always been an administrative, cultural, commercial, and educational centre. As many European countries had consulates in Bitola, also commonly known as "The City of The Consuls" for centuries. In addition, we will visit Heraclea Lyncestis, an ancient Macedonian town with an important strategical position during the Hellenistic period. Continuing on with the journey, the next stop will be Tetovo. Upon arrival, we embark on a tour of the city and visit the Arabati Baba Tekke and Sharena Dzamija (Painted Mosque). The impressive Painted Mosque was built in the year of 1459 on the foundation of an even older edifice. An example of early Constantinople style, the mosque is adorned with an elaborately painted facade and interior, making it unique. In the late evening hours, we travel to Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, for our overnight stay.

Day 11: Skopje
Eat up this morning as we then hit the streets to discover the beauty of Skopje in the morning with a sightseeing tour of the town. As we make our way to the main square along the popular Macedonia street and learn about the diverse history of the ancient settlement, we visit the Memorial House of Mother Teresa – Skopje native and Noble Peace Prize winner; and reach Macedonia square. Look around closely as the square hosts many buildings and monuments representing the cultural heritage and history of Macedonia, including museums, sculptures, the famous statue of Alexander the Great, and even an Arch de Triumph. We make our way up to the outstanding Fortress Kale, overlooking the busy square at the heart of the capital, and continue towards the Old Bazaar passing over the famous Stone Bridge, and witness incredible churches and mosques along the way such as Mustafa Pasha Mosque, The church of St Spas (Holy Salvation), Chifte Amam and more.

Day 12: Sofia
Early in the morning we get up for breakfast and depart for Sofia. As we drive into town and learn about the Bulgarian lifestyle, we’ll join the walking tour of the town centre and visit all the famous landmarks. We start off with the National Library, Sofia University, The Parliament, and continue on to The St. Alexander Nevsky Patriarchal Cathedral, the National Theatre and St. Sofia Church. Along the way is Sofia's oldest building - St George Rotunda, dating all the way back to the 3rd century. As our guide fills you in about the diverse history of Bulgaria, and the communist era, you’ll get to see the houses of the Council of Ministers, presidency and the former communist party headquarters. Then rewind a few centuries at the ruins of the ancient city of Serdika from the 6th century, and visit the National Palace of Culture. As we stroll towards the main shopping streets of Sofia, feel free to get lost and discover the shops and cafes around. You are free to roam the city as you wish.
