Sail Croatia

To put it simply Sail Croatia = cloud nine….sunbathing, swimming, drinking, eating, exploring, partying and sleeping.

I have heard so many amazing stories about Croatia yet this trip definitely exceeded my expectations! Not many people can say they have lived on a pirate ship for 8 days sailing the most stunning stretches of coastline that Europe has to offer.  No matter where you look it is a million dollar view, a real paradise. It is definitely an understatement when I say I was living the dream.

Each day we would set sail early in the morning then stop for a swim en route to our destination. Swim stops meant jumping off the boat into the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic, floating on lilos while drinking a cheeky cider then drying off by laxing out on the deck, catching rays and reading. Lunch time would roll around and we would head inside for an amazing lunch on the boat. After this we’d then pull into our destination for the day/night.

We got to visit all the top islands including Brac; with the awesome cave bar, the beautiful Makarska; which is nestled under the picture perfect Biokovo mountain range, the famous party island Hvar; where we partied at the biggest open air club in Europe, Korčula; the birth place of the famous Marco Polo, Mljet; where we got the chance to kayak, cycle or scoot around the breathtaking salt lakes in the National Park, as well as visiting the coastal cities of Split, Slano and finally, the gem of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik.

As an optional activity you get the chance to go white water rafting in Makarska, something I highly recommend everyone doing. The price you pay for the amount of hours you are on the water is ridiculously cheap and the experience is unforgettable – especially swimming in 8 degree water through a cave! The scenery along the way reminded me of home, truly spectacular. For all you non-adventurous people out there, this white water rafting is nothing scary and is actually lots of fun!

It was great having a tour leader on the boat as each day Laura would give us a brief summary on our up and coming destination, then once on land she would take us on a quick orientation walk to get our bearings. On three of the islands we were also shown around by licensed tour guides, which gave us the chance to learn a lot more about that island or coastal city. I found the information and personal stories they told very interesting and really informative.

Dining out was a pleasure at every stop and Laura always took us to the best but most affordable restaurants at every destination. The restaurant that stood out the most to me was in Korcula, here we got the most amazing view of the sun setting while relaxing over a great meal and cocktails. It was great having a tour leader as they know the really good places to eat and drink, unlike doing it yourself and just hoping you pick good restaurants. Every restaurant or bar we went to Laura had also organized free shots, or a glass of wine – no better way to start the night!

We had two evenings on the boat, relaxing and partying with our fellow Traveltalkers. Our first boat party as you would probably have guessed was a pirate party, Laura had a selection of themed clothes which made it easy and it was a night of fun piratey drinking games and good times. The second party on the boat was trash bag themed, everyone really got into this and we drunk into the evening playing games and having many laughs.

Travel Talk’s pirate ship was truly something unforgettably special, being the only tour company to have one; it definitely made you stand out from the rest of the boats and was a real highlight of the trip. It also made a lot of difference having all the rooms above deck (more fresh air) as well as having a private bathroom, something not many tour companies have. The crew and tour leader were great, the food was amazing, the amount of info we got, the activities we did and places we went all in that amount of time was awesome.

The bottom lines is, if you’re in need of sun, sea and stunning scenery then look no further than sailing Croatia with Travel Talk. They give you the perfect combination of relaxation, exploring and partying and I would highly recommend the tour to anyone and everyone!
