Looking Back To ANZAC Day 2014 – A Travel Talkers Story

[rev_slider anzac_day_2014]

Didn’t manage to book yourself on one of our ANZAC Day tours this year and are wondering what you missed out on? Well don’t worry, because we’ve got a treat for you today!

Travel Talker Chloe Allyn did attend the 2014 ANZAC day service and was blown away by her experience in Gallipoli, Turkey so read on to find out more about her trip:

“Since I can remember, I always wanted to go to Gallipoli for ANZAC Day. It means so much to Australians and New Zealanders and it is a special date in all of our hearts, so to experience this day and pay respects to the fallen soldiers was truly a memory that I will never forget.

Being my first time to Turkey, I wanted to experience everything the country had to offer, so I booked a 10 day Travel Talk tour which took me to the most beautiful cities in Turkey.

From the awe-inspiring travertines and hot springs in Pamukkale to Cappadocia, where we set off for a hot air balloon flight, floating over the breath-taking valleys, vineyards and pigeon chimneys of the region. But, when we reached ANZAC Cove in Gallipoli I felt a rush come over me. I had always imagined this spot but it’s not till you actually go there that you can start to understand what the soldiers had to go through in World War I.

We set up our sleeping bags on the grassed area and watched captivating documentaries all through the night. As the sun started to rise in Australia and New Zealand we watched footage from different services from around the country, which made us feel connected with home. The emotions started at the dawn service with the sound of the Last Post echoing across the Cove and we were able to pay our respects. Soon after the conclusion of the service, we all made the trek up the hill to either Lone Pine (Australian service) or Chunuk Bair (Australian service) to commence the national services.

I’m so glad I choose to go on an ANZAC tour with Travel Talk and I couldn’t have been more happy with the services they provided, including making sure we had prime location for the dawn service. Our tour leader was great, very informative and interesting to listen to – ensuring he told us everything we needed to know (without making it too much). It certainly made this one of the best trips I have ever been on! I have already told all my friends to book their next tours with Travel Talk! The tours are so affordable and with so many countries to explore why wouldn’t you!”
