Turkey Travel Advice

Make sure you are up-to-date with the pre-departure essentials before your trip to Turkey.

Passport & Visas

If you are a citizen of Australia, Canada, Ireland, South Africa, and the USA, you can apply for a 90-day e-visa online. We recommend you apply for a visa at least 2 weeks before your arrival date in Turkey. Citizens of the UK, New Zealand, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland do not require a visa for stays shorter than 3 months.

Travelers to Turkey must have a passport or travel document valid for at least 60 days from the expiry date of their visa. You should carry your passport or travel document with you at all times.

Check with your embassy or your official government website for regulations. Bear in mind that our Turkey travel advice is for guidance only. You are advised to check the details as it is your responsibility to have all the official documents ready before traveling.

You can consult the latest travel advice from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. We recommend all travelers to check their Government National Travel Advisory prior to their departure: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA

It is your responsibility to have your insurance ready, but we are more than happy to provide you with guidance in the process. You can visit our travel insurance page for more details. • To prevent any unwanted surprises, make sure your plan covers emergency medical situations, cancellations, and threats against your personal belongings.
  • Based on your tour, there may be adventure activities that your travel insurance does not include. So, look carefully at what your policy covers.
  • Make sure you have the latest information regarding safety and health issues. You can find useful Turkey travel advice on governmental websites.
When to Go
  • High Season

The best time to visit Turkey is in spring and summer when the diverse land of Anatolia hosts perfect weather for all activities. Summer is the peak season for cruises on the Turquoise Coast, combining the balmy weather of the Mediterranean and the vibrant life of Turkish cities. The average temperature in the coastal regions is 30°C, making it comfortable for enjoying the beach. Nights are breezy, especially in the central regions like Cappadocia.

From March to May, the entire countryside undergoes a change, turning the land into a picture-perfect postcard. Visit Pamukkale and the Gallipoli region at this time of year, and you will witness unforgettable views of the Aegean region. Temperatures vary between 15-25°C. It is the best time to visit Turkey to enjoy long hours of sightseeing without the crowds.

  • Low Season

Autumn is also a perfect time to visit Turkey, as the warm weather of summer lingers on until mid-October and the major attractions are free from the crowds. Some of the best places to visit in Turkey, like Istanbul and Cappadocia, are particularly leisurely, hosting spectacular sunsets and lovely weather. If you wish to savor the best of sea cruises, keep in mind that October is the last month before the winter colds arrive at the coast.
