6 Reasons To Ski France

When we think of France we think of croissants, baguettes, snails and wine, wine, wine. But France, a magical country also has amazing ski terrain. With 8000km of piste spread over 300 resorts and some of the biggest names in world skiing, France has justifiable claims to be the leader of the European ski scene. Around thirty percent of the key ski resorts on the globe are in France and it has the largest linked ski areas in the world meaning that you ski numerous resorts with one pass. Due to the high altitude of the resorts, the season generally lasts from December to May, and some are even open in the summer. What a bonus!

1. The Fresh Pow
We all want fresh powder during the night with blue bird days. This means prime skiing conditions. The French Alps often delivers this, sweet deal! Fresh tracks anyone? Standing at the top, you’re at the uppermost peak of the mountain. The air is a tad chilled and it is the perfect time to bolt down the mountain after getting the first lift up. You couldn’t ask for better. Skiing through fresh pow is like floating on cloud nine. Pure bliss!

2. Après-ski
This is a term for entertainment, night life and events that happen explicitly at ski resorts. Nothing is better than finishing off your day of boarding or skiing than going for cheeky beers, shots, jaeger bombs and so on followed with epic music and table dancing. Après-ski is legendary, a party on the mountain. Those hectic hours between around 3pm and 7pm are the perfect times to celebrate an epic day on the mountain with your mates whilst still in your ski gear. This is a massive highlight of any ski trip.

The slopes in France offer plenty of runs for all ski levels be it beginner to advanced making everyone’s time on the mountain most enjoyable.
