Detailed Itinerary |
Day 1: Istanbul.
At the terminal keep your eyes open for the Travel Talk representative, as we pick you up from the airport. Gather round in the hotel lobby at 6:00pm as we meet both the other tour members and the guide. Listen up for a fast and informal meeting with the leader including registration and a short brief about the adventures ahead and some country info.
Day 2: Istanbul.
After breakfast we begin to experience the magnificence of Istanbul. We stroll through the old town visiting Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, majestic Topkapi Palace and the Hagia Sophia Museum.
Day 3: Gallipoli.
Today we depart Istanbul for the shores of Gallipoli. We visit all the important memorial sites in the region including the Kabatepe War Museum, Anzac Cove, Chunuk Bair and Lone Pine.
Day 4: Troy, Pergamum, Selcuk.
After breakfast we head to the ancient city of Troy, the setting of Homer's epic, Iliad, involving a giant wooden horse. We then continue to Pergamum, and the remains of the Temple of Athena, Temple of Trajan, library and theatre cut into the hillside. We arrive in Selçuk.
Day 5: Ephesus, Pamukkale.
The best preserved ancient town in Turkey, Ephesus, will be our first stop. In the afternoon we depart for Pamukkale and visit the ancient city of Hierapolis, which was the cure centre founded in around 160 BC by the king of Pergamum. Our day continues as we take in the unusual and beautiful landscape of the “Cotton Castle”.
Day 6: Pamukkale, Dalyan, Boat Trip, Mud Bath, Itzuzu, Fethiye.
After breakfast we make our way to Dalyan, a small town in the south-western coast popular for its natural and unspoiled beauty. We join a boat trip to visit the most popular mud bath in Turkey, and we then continue to Iztuzu beach, homeland of world famous Caretta Caretta turtles. After a fantastic boat travel we reach Iztuzu sandbar with fine sand and turquoise sea. In the afternoon we depart for Fethiye, the “traveller’s paradise” on the Mediterranean coast.
Day 7: Fethiye, Kayakoy, Oludeniz.
This morning we set out for Kayakoy, the interesting old Greek town famous for its stone houses. We then make our way to Oludeniz. Besides its spectacular beaches, glittering waters and breathtaking natural scenery, Oludeniz is also popular for its water sport activities. Here you can relax on the exquisite beach or join one of the adventure activities including paragliding and microlighting. Late in the afternoon we depart for our overnight stay in Fethiye.
Day 8: Fethiye, Saklikent, Kaputas, Kas.
Another active day is awaiting us! After breakfast we depart for Saklikent Gorge, a popular spot for exploring within a stunning backdrop. Plunging into crystal clear, cool pools of water, swimming through narrow passages and clambering over boulders will be a memorable experience. We then will make our way to Kaputas, a gorgeous sandy beach at the foot of the striking Taurus mountain gorge. Kaputas is considered to be one of the most pristine beaches in Turkey. We then move on to the fishing
village of Kas, a great base for adventure activities and water sports.
Day 9: Kas.
You have a free day in this charming, sleepy town. Shop for trinkets and presents, cruise the cafes and try more local cuisine or today you can just lounge! The serene beaches are great to unwind or join adventure activities including diving, trekking, biking, paragliding, jeep safari and more.
Day 10: Kas, Kekova Boat Cruise, Simena.
After breakfast we depart for Ucagiz and join a boat cruise to discover the sunken city of Kekova and the ancient city of Simena. You can also participate in optional activities like sea-kayaking on the sunken city. We return for our overnight stay in Kas.
Day 11: Kas, Olympos, Antalya.
We escape to Olympos, a peaceful valley ideal for unwinding on unspoiled beaches or below towering pine trees. Olympos is also famous for its tree houses and trekking & walking activities. In the afternoon we depart for Antalya, the most popular sea resort in Turkey.
Day 12: Antalya, Konya, Sultanhan, Cappadocia.
After a full week on the Mediterranean coast, today we set out for mainland Turkey. We stop in Konya to visit the world famous Mevlana Museum of whirling dervishes and we then make our want to historical Sultanhan kervansarai. Late in the evening we arrive in Cappadocia.
Day 13: Cappadocia.
After breakfast we begin exploring all the important sights in Cappadocia including the
Goreme Open Air Museum, Cavusin, Uchisar, Pigeon Valley... ending in a visit to local handicraft manufacturers and learn about traditional art.
Day 14: Cappadocia, Underground City, Ihlara Valley.
This morning we visit the impressive underground city and we then make our way to the dramatic Ihlara Valley where we also have lunch. We spend the afternoon in this impressive valley. We remain in Cappadocia overnight.
Day 15: Cappadocia, Istanbul.
Today we sit back and relax in the coach. This is a day to enjoy the amazing Turkish scenery unfold before us, while listening to your music player or just watching the small towns and villages pass. As we get into Istanbul in the evening, keep a look out for the stunning light show that is on every night! The oldest and best buildings are lit up over the Bosphorus, and the two bridges joining Asia to Europe are spectacular. We sleep over night in Istanbul.
Day 16: Istanbul.
Our trip will end after we say goodbye to our new friends over breakfast
